599 Productions, which supplies stock time-lapse video to major companies such as Getty, has just released their newest showreel. They explain some of the basics on their Vimeo video page:
This is a timelapse video that I shot using the Canon 5D Mark II in RAW stills mode. The motion control shots are done using the Dynamic Perception rig with a 10′ and 6′ track. The lenses that were used in this piece are the Canon 24mm 1.4 II, Canon 800mm f5.6 + 2x TC III, Zeiss ZF lenses 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, Nikon 80-200mm f2.8, Sigma 20mm f1.8.
If you’ve read this blog before, the 5D Mark II and the panning rig from Dynamic Perception should sound familiar. These have become standard in most of the high quality time-lapse videos circulating today. The unusual element is the 800mm lens with 2x adapter for a zoom equal to a 1600mm lens.
Make sure to watch in HD and go full screen to enjoy the crispness of the images. You can visit 599 Productions’ website for more showreels.
