Gigapan to Feature Time-Lapse Videos
By now, you’re probably familiar with the Gigapan website. It allows users to take multiple photos by using a proprietary camera mount and automatically stitch them together into a single image. Once these are uploaded to the Gigapan website, users can zoom into the photos in great detail using the same technology behind Google Maps.
Gigapan.org has quietly started offering time-lapse functionality with the same zooming ability. For the moment, these videos aren’t shared on the site but they offer a sneak preview and a paper about this new feature.
I’m really surprised that I haven’t heard more about this around the internet. I’m excited to see what’s in store when it goes public.
